Joan, as she is now known, has progressed to the finished stage.
Now if only the layout could progress..

The pizza layout has not progressed......however the resident critter has taken some steps.
Obviously the still to be named outfit (and the business they're in is still unknown) needed a critter.
While they were looking around their yard (which is still to be built) they found an unused V12 engine purportedly from a 1933 Caddy towncar that was purportedly owned originally by Joan Crawford.
Construction of the critter, which they did not want to be under-powered (due to their as yet unkown business), is progressing, under the watchful eyes of Jim the shop supervisor.
Cheers
(I'm unable, since the site update, to add captions to my photos... is there a secret way of doing that?)

Rowan,
You are definitely the proverbial Busy Bee! And due to your enormous energy level, and the corporate energy level of our distinguished brotherhood --- my apologies Annie-- our Group if distinguished Nutty Engineers, I am off my elbows and working to create a pizza of my own imagineering capacity or should I say audacity...
So squeezle on over a smidgen to allow my to be soon revealed ... Gn15 Pizza... Alright, I'm an indoors kinda guy ;-)

G'day Rowan
Glad to be of help.
Have always done the railbending with 'OO' and also 9mm ( Peco crazy' track.)
It makes the actually laying sooooo much easier.

Adrian, I think I know what you mean... you bend the rails prior to affixing to the base-board.
I've done that with gauge 1 track, but, of course, it did not cross my mind for HO.
I'll try that next time.
My brute-force method has resulted in a less than round circle/oval/whatever, but hey, as long as the train/loco goes around the curve.
Cheers

G'day Rowan
For your information my method of laying flex trax in tight curves is to first slide all the sleepers off the rails.
This is usually done in small sections of sleepers.
I then curve the rails to the approx curve required.
Usually by pulling the rails over the workbench edge.
A file is used to remove any burrs on the end of the rails.
While the sleepers are off the rails I cut them from each other.
The sleepers are then feed back onto the rails.
The resulting curved track is then pinned into position.
Using this method puts a lot less strain on the moulded rail spikes and allows the sleepers to be positioned where you want them.
Hope that this is of some help

Thanks for the suggestions. Being overeager I've not meddled with the ties, they are just as they come form Peco. (Next time ....)
I also like the idea to make the scenery removable... as suggested, themed layouts would be quick and
dirty
.. easy.......

You could do what I did (but differently!)
and make the scenery removable... so have a range of micros without having to make several pizzas.
Even different scales, with alternate stock or drop-over bodies on the same chassis.
Easter's coming up...

What I found that works for me is to cut each tie loose. Turn the flex track upside down and you will find that ever other tie is connected. I used a hot knife (a wood burning tool) which made a quick job of this.
I visited an On30 display where they removed every other tie. I was told they rigged a chisel knife blade in a drill press and used the leverage pulling the blade down. This pass Sunday at a train meet I saw a On30 display where they hand laid N-scale rail... they have more time and patience than myself.
You may check Carl's scrapbook page 60a to see my Gn15. I remove several ties, that was my first experience "bending" flex track more that the 18" radius that we been taught. I took a cheap HO switch engine removed the shell and built my own body from model car parts and sheet plastic. Odell the engineer was a "standing" figure until I taught him to sit. I back cut his knees and just below his belly. Then we super glued him, added some putty, and repainted. That was fun layout where I tried several tricks new to me.

My second attempt at a small layout.. the first is still a work (if it can be called that) in progress.
So far with this one, there has been progress.
Not sure where this will lead as I have no actual plan beyond it perhaps running Gn15 stock (still to be constructed)
